Goals in 2021

Bookworms!

Happy New Year! Again!

So, like anyone with a half grain of common sense, I know myself enough to know that these goals are a rough draft of what I want to do and not what I will definitely do (because I am a mood reader and it really can’t be practical to expect to achieve all the things here and you never know how much wilder this year will be). So, these are the things I am hoping to do. Not quite the to-do list but suggestions to myself from me!

So, now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about my goals!

Backlist TBR/ Physical TBR

Just like last year, I am still going to be paying more attention to the backlist reads and my actual physical books on my shelf. I think I did make a bit of a progress last year on this front, nothing to boast about but enough that I feel comfortable going with it again this year. There are literally so many books collecting dust on my shelves that it sometimes shames me. Sometimes because I am kinda shameless and sometimes my reading habits do not coincide with my buying habits, okay?

Less ARCs/Timely Reviews of ARCs

I am proud to say that I have been really in control as far as  requesting ARCs is considered, I have also been fairly good with posting my review of said ARCs on time so I would like to continue with that. I am also going to tighten up my ARCs requesting spree even more. Why? Because this year I simply want to read more series. If I miss out on a few interesting releases because of this, I am okay with it. If I am dying for them, I will buy them anyway. This way, I will support the author monetarily as well as through posting reviews, win-win, right?

Diversity

So, as far as diversity, I have been okay-ish? with this goal last year but I want to read more POC/ LGBTQIA SFF authors. So, let’s see if I can make that happen. I want to read more Asian authors because I think I haven’t been paying as much as attention in this side of the SFF and that’s a crime. So, I am hoping to repent in this direction. It’s doubtful if this diversity goal will go beyond SFF though. I am really bad with other genres, it seems if my past record is anything to go by.

Book Series

Simply, I want to devote this year to book series. I have been trying to balance my standalone and series reading and kinda failing at both, if I am being honest. So, this year, while I will still read standalone books, I will be heavily invested in book series. More importantly, book series that I own physically. So, let’s see how much I am able to make this into a successful venture.

+++++

So that’s it for my goals, they aren’t lofty, right? Do you have any goals for the year? Or are you better at admitting that you are winging it unlike me? Let me know in the comments!
