Hello, fellow bookworms!!
As is usual, I bought some books during the month of September, and without me really realising it, there are quite a few of them this time around. Oh, well. When have I really had any control when it came to books?
However this isn’t a terribly big book haul so I am not too concerned about my bank account just yet. It’s just enough to satisfy my need to buy books and also just enough that my bank account doesn’t start weeping when faced with the bills. And yes, I am proud to say that these books were not a by-product of my anxiety. That always makes me a bit more happier about the books.
So, without further ado, let’s get started!
Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
I have wanted to read this one for a very long time now but it was only recently that my wish for it revived with force. And yes, you can totally blame the mini-series for that, I just fell in love with it and can’t wait to dive into the book. It is one of the rare times when I have watched the television adaptation before reading the book and I just hope my opinion of the book isn’t coloured because of it because I have seen that happen with many people.
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
Another one of the modern classics that I have always wanted to read and been intimidated by. However when the opportunity came to buy this one because it was at the lowest price I had seen, I knew I had to immediately buy it because who knew when the next time such a price would available. (Yes, more than half of my purchases are based on the book’s price because I am not (very unfortunately) made of money.)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
So, I had decided to buy house editions as soon as my sister mentioned them to me and we decided on a book a month so, here we are. The second book in the series, this one is Slytherin edition and the first one was Ravenclaw edition. We hope to buy them in a certain pattern.
The Carpet Weaver by Nemat Sadat
I had no idea that this book existed till I was just mindlessly browsing Amazon for something else entirely but then I looked at that cover and I was intrigued and then I read the summary and I am really interested. So, before I could control myself, I had already bought it. I have heard some really good things about it so fingers crossed I like it too!
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
Well, just like HP books, it’s been my wish to have proper physical copies of The Raven Cycle on my shelves so I am finally doing it. One book at a time. Hopefully, before the year’s end, I will have them all.
Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
This one, I believe, is the most out of my comfort zone as I have ever been but! I was browsing through a bookshop and I happened upon it. Because of its fame all over bookstagram and bookish community in general, I decided to skim through it and before I knew it, I had read over twenty pages! Just standing and probably inconveniencing people, I am sure. So, as much as I am afraid that I will not like this book, I must read more of it. It was engaging and it reeled me in faster than I imagined.
The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
Sooo…..I had no plans of buying this one in near future, yeah, I was going to read it probably on my iPad or something but the deal for this one was too good to not buy it. I got it for such a steal that I would have hated myself had I not bought it. So, there it is. Yes, that’s the real reason I bought it as fast as I did.
So that’s it for the books bought this month, well, apart from the ones that aren’t here yet. Have you read any of the books? If yes, then, what are your thoughts on them? If not then after reading the blurbs, would you want to? Also, what was the last book you bought? Tell me all about it in the comments below.
I love Good Omens! I reread it this summer. And I may need to get myself that Harry Potter book. House Slytherin!
