Hello bookworms!!!

I have been reading but since I felt a bit poorly last week, I decided to not post my reading progress during the week. The result of this is that now my reading progress sounds far more impressive than it could have been perceived as.

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

The Mask of Mirrors by M. A. Carrick

This one is a chonker and not just because of the page count. This book can pack so many characters in it, you won’t believe it till you read it. I am taking it slow because otherwise I confused myself, at times, it feels like too many characters, you know? The story is good though! So, don’t worry about that aspect of the book.

天官赐福, Tiān Guān Cì Fú (Heaven’s Official Blessing) by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu

I have made a whopping 10% progress with this one, I am taking it slow because I want to savour this one and I love having a back up book that I am enjoying to get back to in case my other read isn’t going too well. Also, a lot happens in this book, okay? A lot. Eight hundred years a lot. So, I am trying my best not to confuse myself with details as to what happened when.

Recently Finished

The Burning God by R. F. Kuang

If I am being absolutely honest then I was expecting the end. It still didn’t prepare me for it though. What a trilogy, what a gut-punching series this was. I think I am glad that this was my proper introduction to grimdark fantasy. I can’t remember any other grimdark fantasy that I have read recently so I can make this claim. In any case, god. Now, I am kinda interested in other books in the genre.

The Last Lies of Ardor Benn by Tyler Whitesides

I finally finished this trilogy too! That’s two series before January ended and I couldn’t be happier. Although I am not super happy with certain things that happened in the book, it is still a great series to pick up if you love heists, weird magic systems, engaging characters and dragons!

Reading Next

Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell

This is another anticipated 2021 release that I can’t wait to read, I have the e-ARC of it and I couldn’t be happier. I think this will serve well as a palette cleanser and a great read on its own. So, here’s to hoping I enjoy it.

And that’s it for this week. Have you read any of the books yet? If so, which one is it and did you like it? Also are any of these on your tbr if you haven’t read them yet? Tell me all about it in the comments below! Also don’t forget to tell me what you are currently reading!
