Hiya!
It’s almost 2021! I hope you all are having fun on this fine weekend. If you would remember, I posted Top Ten Standalone Books of 2019 a few days ago and well, this post was bound to happen after that one, right? It just took me a while to get around to it.
So, book series. Yeah, since these are book series, I am not going to restrict myself to the books/ series that only released in 2020, that would be very limiting and not very smart. So, here’s a list of book series that I read in 2020 and found them to be the bee’s knees.
Mind you this list is in no particular order because I don’t want to give them numbers just yet.
So, without further ado, here are the top ten series I read this year.
The Inheritance Trilogy by N. K. Jemisin
Protectorate series by Megan E. O’Keefe
Deavabad Trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty
The Greenhollow duology by Emily Tesh
Kingdom of Grit by Tyler Whitesides*
The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang*
The Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix
Honourable mentions
These are the series I started but didn’t manage to finish beyond the first book during the year. Also, there’s a couple of series up there that I haven’t quite finished reading yet. Only the last book is left and I will be finishing it off during this month or the next. So, that’s what the star means, if you have noticed it against a couple of series.
Tensorate series by J. Y. Yang
The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan
The Black Prism by Brent Weeks
These are my favourite series of the year, I did read more series than this and frankly, even finished them but these are the ones that really stayed with me. I can actually see myself re-reading these books in future with joy. So, what do you think? Found any series that you love? Or maybe you are planning to read it? Or worse, you have read one of these and found them not to your liking? Tell me all about your favourite series in the comments.
The Daevabad trilogy was just truly phenomenal. I was so nervous about the second book after how amazing City of Brass was, but when Kingdom of Copper totally knocked it out of the park, I knew that Empire of Gold was going to be a stunning finale, and it didn’t disappoint in the slightest.

It was just so unexpectedly good starting with The City of Brass. And then, the author just met my expectations for the series and made it higher tbh. That ending of Kingdom of Copper and the way everything was resolved in The Empire of Gold. 🤩
