Bookworms,

This month has been a bit of an odd one for me. I think I react to things a bit slowly or a bit weirdly. In any case, the second half of the month was when I felt truly uninspired for a lot of things. I didn’t want to write reviews, I didn’t want to do bookish tags, I didn’t post anything on Instagram and I didn’t read much. In fact, I doubt this one is gonna be a normal wrap up either but let’s see.

I read a total of six books and wrote only three posts and one of them was a review. So, yeah, this month went really well as you can see. I am just not sure what to put here as a wrap up when I read so little and wrote even less.

I also wrote a review for The Glass Hotel. I think it kinda sent me on a sad spiral or rather on the uninspired spiral. Who really knows. In any case, here’s the link.

The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mendel

I read six books and they were very different and read in very different moods. I have no idea why they were the ones I managed to finish but there you go.

 The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mendel

It was my introduction to this author and it was a great one, writing wise, I can see why so many people are in love with the writing. However this book was also on a sadder note, less optimism and I guess I wasn’t prepared for it. It feels like we are looking into a parallel universe where a few people made the choices they made and then had a few regrets and wondered about ‘what if’s as you are wont to do.

Loveless by Alice Oseman

Gosh. This book. I was twenty six when I realised that something like aroace even existed and that it is a completely valid orientation. To read about a character going through what I went through and then coming to that place where you can accept and be happy about who you are? Yeah, that really meant so much.

Blue Ticket by Sophie Mackintosh

It might have been my own fault but I kept expecting the awesomeness of The Water Cure and that might have lessened my enjoyment of reading this one. The review will come soon but I think this one disappointed me a bit.

It Takes Two to Tumble by Cat Sebastian

This was a wild buy, it was when I was so frustrated that I was looking at titles I wouldn’t normally look at! That’s romance by the way. So, yeah, that happened. I enjoyed it, I read it in half a day and that made me feel good about myself and what more can you ask, really?

Promise, Texas by Debbie Macomber

Another unexpected read was this. I have many books in my boxes which I had stored once I realised that I wouldn’t be reading them again and I didn’t have enough space for them either. In any case, I might have read this when I was younger and loved it but frankly, I could see quite a few problems in it to fully enjoy it now. Of course, that was bound to happen, I guess. It is an old book, after all.

All Along You Were Blooming by Morgan Harper Nichols

This one floated me along as I felt more and more frustrated with my lack of interest in doing anything but work, watch some netflix and sleep. Yeah. That was a bad pattern but sometimes, it happens. In any case, it’s a good book, I am glad I took my time with it.

And that’s it for July. I hope I have a better month in August because July or at least a part of it sucked pretty bad. I am also going to take it slow for now blogging/ post wise, else I burn myself out. I know. There weren’t that many posts per month to begin with but my mental health is important and I need to know that I am not pressuring myself into it. This blog is for my enjoyment and something I should do. So, yeah, expect less posts, I have also not been reading as much so reviews will be less in number as well.

Also! I know a few places are going back to normal but there are many countries that are still struggling because of the virus. So, please, take all the precautions.  Stay safe and take care of each other.
