Dear readers,

The Women’s Prize long list was recently unveiled and there are some truly interesting ones that I want to keep on eye on and maybe read too. Here are all the longlist nominees and below that are the ones I genuinely am interested. It sounds bad but there are some things that I, as a reader, will always be intrigued about and some things I wouldn’t be as enthusiastic about. That’s unfortunately the truth.

I know that I made a similar post last year never ended up following through, it was mostly because either my mood was responsible for me not reading them or they just didn’t seem to catch my fancy at all. It’s the worst, I know.

These are the ones I am genuinely interested in and probably should have read already.

A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes

A take on mythology that takes all of Trojan war and brings to us from the all-female perspective is something I have been craving however me being stubborn on wanting a physical has stopped me from actually reading it. I might try to content myself with an ebook version this time.

The Dutch House by Ann Patchett

I finally have a copy of this one in my hands and it’s probably the time to read it. So I am going to try and read this one in March or April. Fingers crossed. Family drama is always something I am up for, so long as I don’t overdo it. So, the possibility of me reading it is higher than normal.

Nightingale Point by Luan Goldie

It also sounds a lot like a family drama in the making but it also has an everyday/ slice of life sort of sound that I genuinely like. I have zero idea as to where I might even procure a copy of this one but let’s see how it all works out.

Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara

Something based in India and based on the shows I have grown to despise? Yes, please. Also this has a sort of Famous Five vibe that I might enjoy. I have even seen these in the shops as well so that’s a good sign that I might get to this one sooner rather than later but I am not making any promises though.

Dominicana by Angie Cruz

It sounds like something I would really enjoy also it has a promise of a good read. I am always up for that. Also that cover, have you looked at it?

Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell

Shakespeare has not been on my mind for a long while but it sounds super interesting and tragic. I am ready to cry over a book again. Also I don’t know much about the personal life of Shakespeare too so even a fictionalised version of it should be interesting to read.

Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

This book has been catching my eye ever since I saw it in a bookshop and it’s been haunting me too for a while. The idea of looking at life through twelve different perspective kinda scares me but at the same time, excites me.
