Book Haul- January

Readers,

As usual, I knew I wouldn’t be able to control myself enough to not buy anything this month. I don’t think I went completely mad with the purchases but some experts have hinted at it multiple times now, so who really knows?

A Large Expanse of Sea by Tehereh Mafi

Uncommon Type: Some Stories by Tom Hanks

The Blizzard by Vladimir Sorokin

The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells

The Black Prism by Brent Weeks (Lightbringer #1)

The Way of Kings Part One by Brandon Sanderson

The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

The Way of Kings Part Two by Brandon Sanderson

Okay, so when we look at the list, I guess, I did go mad. A tiny bit. The Blizzard and Uncommon Type was absolutely an impulse buy and I do not regret it yet. The War of the Worlds was sort of a cover buy? Sort of because I have wanted to read it forever. So, now that I have it, I should be reading it. (Ideally). A Large Expanse of Sea is something I have been meaning to read for so long, the second hand copy was in such a great condition and so cheap, I knew I had to get it.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue had been evading me for so long! Whenever I checked only the paperback was available and as every other book in the series was in hardback in my collection, I was stubborn enough to wait till an opportunity came forward.

About The Palace of Illusions. Well. The thing is, I did haul it last year but when I lent it to a friend, she kinda forgot it in her old flat while she was moving and then, it was never seen again. So, this time, I went and bought a hardcover and I possibly won’t be lending it anytime soon. At least, not until I have read it too. (She’s a good friend though and did pay me for the book, so there’s that.)

Now, The Black Prism. Boy, those books are expensive all year around. Yes, even the paperbacks. So, I had to time it and keep an eye on the price decreasing on Amazon in order to actually own the bloody thing. I finally have it. However the second book is now ridiculously expensive, I have to wait for the price to come down for that, too. It’s just hard work all the time with this series.

Stormlight Archive is something of a legend to me now but! A legend that is still readable? Considering the fact that Sanderson is pretty trustworthy when it comes to finishing his works, I have finally invested in the Stormlight Archive. I will be acquiring the rest of the books in the coming months.

And that’s it for this month. I do have a few ebooks that I bought recently but they might come up in the reviews, hopefully.

Till the next time!

  1. I’m planning on tackling the Stormlight Archive this year as well! They’re the only Cosmere books I haven’t read yet, and I’ve loved every other thing I’ve read by Sanderson, so I’m pretty hyped. Great haul! 😊
