Hello!!
After not having a book haul for a while, I certainly made a comeback with a bang. This is, perhaps, my biggest book haul so far. Some of them are used books and were quite cheap, some of them were gifts from a few friends and some I knew I absolutely had to get because there was no other option.
Let’s see what additions I made to my bookish hoard, shall we?
An Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim
This is a book I have been wanting to have ever since I became obsessed with everything Italian. I finally got to buy a used copy and I am going to read this one as well as Under the Tuscan Sun in April or May. Probably.
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
I have heard many, many things about this one and I had been waiting to buy at an affordable price because often it’s either not available or available at a ridiculous price. The time finally came when I could buy it. I am ready to cry my heart out and feel all the heartache with this one.
Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram
I already read this one but when the opportunity came with a very cheap price? You bet I bought the paperback. If you haven’t read it yet, or don’t know of it, please, go and read it!
Vita Nostra by Marina & Sergey Dyachenko
A translated novel and I can not wait to read this one, I was too late to get the ARC of this one Edelweiss, I think and I have been bitter about it ever since. I have heard such great things about it and the cover doesn’t hurt, too.
The Binding by Bridget Collins
Okay, so this one is first and foremost a cover buy. I am not ashamed. There’s the blurb that sounds fascinating too but I would be lying if I said I only bought it for the blurb. Oops?
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
This was a gift from a friend and she would like to be unnamed so I won’t talk about her. I had been waiting to buy this one for a while but the paperback wasn’t available for the longest time and then, bam! My friend sent it to me as a gift. Well, let me just say, she’s the gift here.
The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin
Ever since I heard of her, I had been dying to read anything written by Ursula K. Le Guin and then, this used book came to me like a miracle because it’s so freaking hard to find used ones written by her. So yay!
To Green Angel Tower: Siege by Tad Williams
I am trying to collect this trilogy and since these are really hard to procure where I live, I am okay with buying the used ones. This is the third book in the trilogy but I am patient, I will have them all! *insert ominous laughter*
The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams
After reading the trilogy last year, I had wanted to read more of Tad Williams and this one is a standalone. If you like fantasy, you know how hard it is to find a fantasy standalone. So, of course, I had to grab it. As you can see, it’s also a used copy.
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
I don’t think I need to tell what this is about, this one is also another used book that I grabbed.
The Lost World & Other Stories by Arthur Conan Doyle
Another book I have wanted to read ever since I fell in love with all things dinosaurs. I mean, there’s tons to look forward to in this one so I am hoping to enjoy it.
The Absolutist by John Boyne
Now that I am firmly in the grips of John Boyne’s writing, I had to have this one because one, it was available and sure it was used but it was also very cheap! You wouldn’t have missed this opportunity, right?
Sunshine by Robin McKinley
I was trying to find more fantasy standalones and this one kept popping up. It has vampires and it’s urban fantasy, I think? I really don’t know much about it and I wanna keep it that way until I actually read it.
Wildwood by Colin Meloy & Carson Ellis
This one is another cover buy, it’s so cute and pretty! It’s a middle grade fantasy series and this is the first book in the series. It’s about siblings? And one of them getting snatched by creatures? I am not sure, I will update you when I read it.
Greek Myths by Robert Graves
EEEEE!!! This one was another gift from a different friend. She knew that I absolutely love Greek mythology and that I was trying to find the first volume of the Greek Myths for a long time because I only had the second one but then she gifted me with a whole new edition where both volumes are combined and it’s so pretty too!!
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
So, Jean from Jean BookishThoughts absolutely fell in love with everything this author has written and I totally trust her reading tastes to match mine. This is the first book in Sevenwaters series. It took a while but I finally found a good as new, used copy of the book. Here’s to hoping that I love it as much as Jean.
Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier
I was very lucky that I found the second book in the series with the first one, with used books that’s a rare thing. Especially where I live and when the books aren’t too mainstream. So, I was very happy with this one.
And that’s it for this book haul. I bought and got quite a lot of books and I am super happy to have these in my bookish hoard. Have you read any of the books? If yes, then, what are your thoughts on them? If not then after reading the blurbs, would you want to? Also, what was the last book you bought? Tell me all about it in the comments below.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on A Little Life, Vita Nostra, and The Absolutist, those are three of my absolute faves!!
