Currently Reading

Hi! Hello!!

This post is a little bit different from any other I have done so far? Basically, this post is just a reading update, what I am currently reading. I am sure there’s a proper tag for this sort of thing but I am really not in the mood to find out about it?

Oh well.

So, here are the books I am currently reading. It’s sort of a reading check-in? I am not sure what to call it, really. I have been meaning to do something like this for a while now and as always, I sort of pushed it to a later date. Yeah, we are big on procrastination in this house and we are not ashamed. (We are very ashamed but we just don’t want to admit it.)

Anyway!

Here are the books I am currently reading and they are as different as they can be, I am very happy about this because for once, I am going out of my comfort zone and trying new things.

All the Ever Afters by Danielle Teller

Cinderella has never been my favourite of the fairy tales (it might be too goody-two-shoes for me? Or something, I don’t really know why it never worked for me) but when I heard that this one told the story of the evil step mother, I was so ready for it. I am about 200 pages in so far and I am really enjoying this, it’s not been super great or anything but it is engaging. I am very surprised to see absolutely no magic in the book because well, it’s Cinderella!

I am partly glad for it though because then we get to see some of the things from a different point of view with a different set of thought processes. So far, the evil step mother hasn’t had a good life and it’s unlikely to change considering what she’s like when the whole Cinderella and the glass shoe stuff happens however I really like the format of the book. It reads like a journal of the things that happened in the past and in between that, there’s the present where Cinderella is married to the prince. It’s interesting and fun to read.

I really hope it works for me till the end because so far, it’s been good but not that great?

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Oh boy. This one has been on my Kindle for so long but I waited till the release date was closer because what’s the point of reading the book and not being able to squee about it, right? This is my first TJR book and it’s been a good ride so far. It’s about the sixties and the seventies music scene, it’s about a band and it’s mostly about Daisy Jones so far.

It reads like a series of interviews with various people who had Daisy Jones in their life. I am not quite sure what to think of this one yet, so far, it’s a fast and easy read but I am just not sure if it will leave any lasting impact on me? Considering all that I heard about TJR last year about her previous book, I am hoping to really enjoy this one. I am trying my very best not let the hype get to me and so far, I am succeeding, I think.

Since I am only about 21% in so far, I am not going to make any judgments on the book because that’s just not fair, is it?

So, that’s it, that’s the two books I am currently reading. What about you? What are you reading right now? Also, have you read either of these books? If yes, then what do you think of them and if not, then do you plan to read them? Tell me in the comments!

  1. I really enjoy reading posts like these, that feel more chatty and relaxed. I should do more of them!

I’m like the only book blogger who didn’t adore Evelyn Hugo, but I’ve read 3 other Taylor Jenkins Reid novels that I loved – so I’m still super excited for Daisy Jones. Hopefully I’ll fall back in love with her writing with this one!

    Lovely post 😊

    1. Oh! So true! I have been hesitant about it because I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. I can be incredibly awkward, the chances of it going bad were very high.

Oh! You didn’t? That’s unfortunate, it’s always a bit sad when you don’t enjoy a book, right? I hope you enjoy Daisy Jones tho and fall in love with her writing, too. ❤️❤️
