Hello bookworms!!!

Another month gone! There’s only two more months left in the year, where did the year go? OMg. What even is happening? Anyway, October meant my birthday! Being my birthday month I bought books. Obviously. It’s not rocket science by this point. I hope you have a lovely month so far and that you also got to haul some amazing books, too.

So I just did the count for my books and yeah, it’s a bit much but! As usual, most of them are used books and I am pretty proud of myself for not spending some mad amount on books. As it is, I have almost no self control when it comes to books so what happened wasn’t really all that shocking. (Look at me trying to excuse myself as if anybody is actually going to take my word for it for these kinds of things.)

In any case! Let’s just get into it, yeah?

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

This book has been recommended to me by so many people that I couldn’t not buy this book to check it out. There’s magical realism, there’s a circus and it’s all very mysterious and magical. I hope to read it soon.

Solitaire by Alice Oseman

I read it as soon as it came and frankly, I could see why it wasn’t the best rated book of Oseman, it was painfully obvious that it was her first book by the very odd representation of mental health, of relationships between the characters. I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars and that was me being super generous. I finished it but frankly, I couldn’t have told you what I just read when I put the book down because it was that weird.

The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell

A truly spooky read as has been said by so many people that at this point, I am just accepting it as truth. I had meant to read it during October but it was a very odd month for me because most of it was spent obsessing over Mistborn trilogy so there was literally no time for this one however I am hoping to read it soon.

Vicious by V. E. Schwab

This was a mystery birthday gift, I am still not sure who sent it but whoever did it, thank you. I asked on Instagram and nobody got back to me so, I am not sure what to think of it. Oh, well. This is a very loved book by the public and I am hoping that I fall in love with it as well.

So, every since I started watching booktube, I have seen people raving about this author and his books and I am a sucker for historical fiction anyway so when the opportunity presented itself, I was not about to turn away from it. I bought all of them available at the time. Yeah, I am extra like that. Oops?

The Dollmaker of Krakow by R. M. Romero

This was on my TBR as soon as I came to know about it. It’s a middle-grade novel about a dollmaker with unusual powers and a doll that comes to life, it’s set in Poland during World War II. Do I need to say more? I hope not.

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

This book was an impulse buy and a cover buy. Seriously. It’s another middle-grade novel, I think? It’s about David who loses his mum and his only company during his journey through his grief are the books on his shelf. It sounds magical and fun and I can’t wait to read it.

Sabriel by Garth Nix

Lirael by Garth Nix

I am taking an awful lot of risks this year by buying an author’s multiple books without having read a single one of them before. This is another one of those risks. Garth Nix is an author I have heard such good things about but never managed to actually read anything of his so again, when the chance was there, I took it with both hands.

Jasmine Days by Benyamin

An Indian author’s work translated into English, Jasmine Days is the heart-rending story of a young woman in a city where the promise of revolution turns into destruction and division. I came to know about it when the JCB Prize nominations were declared and I really found it intriguing enough to buy it and funnily enough, it won the JCB Prize. So, there’s that.

The Odessey by Homer

Yeah, this should not come as a surprise to anyone. My older Odessey was super old, as in it’s pages were coming loose and I had to have another copy on hand in case the old one gave up on life.

The Price Guide to the Occult by Leslye Walton

I won this lovely in a giveaway on IG hosted by Rosie Talbot aka merrowchild. It sounds amazing and it has spooky elements and I can’t wait to read it.

And that’s it! That’s not too many books, right? I mean, is there such a thing as that anyway? So, have you read any of them? Would you recommend them or not? If not, why not and if yes, why? I ask because I am nosy and I wanna know the answers.
